At KPES, the journey through books is a shared experience for students, didis, bhaiyas, and parents alike. With well-stocked libraries like Nachiketa, Tri Nachiketa, and Jigyasa, everyone has easy access to books, providing a wonderful escape.
During the Vanar Years, children visit Nachiketa weekly, where they not only enjoy a story but also have the chance to explore books from the shelves. This fosters a love for reading and teaches them to handle books with care. By the time they transition to Primary years, they are eager to borrow books to read at home, in addition to the ‘class library’ available in all groups. As they grow, their connection with the written word deepens. Children read to understand, reflect, analyze, and often engage in discussions. They explore content in various languages, both original and translated.
Didis and bhaiyas keep in touch with vibrant, impressionable, and creative minds by being avid readers themselves. They broaden their horizons and explore new interests through the books they read, revive old passions, and help create engaging classroom environments.
The parent community also becomes immersed in the reading culture fostered by the school. Newspapers like ‘The Telegraph’ are available in the Visitor’s Area; a healthy exchange of books is encouraged through the ‘Book Nook’ initiative; and recommended reading lists are shared periodically. Additionally, by participating in talks led by various experts invited to the school, parents and grandparents quickly embrace the reading ethos.
KPES truly embodies its mission by passionately building a community of thoughtful and aware individuals.
